TDK Showcases 1TB Optical Disc

Today at the Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies (CEATEC) trade show in Japan, TDK Corporation announced a 1 terabyte optical disc.

Imagine all those DVDs and CDs being used as backups replaced with one 1TB disc.

Considering 1 terabyte hard drives are currently going for under $80, there is a need for high capacity backups solutions.

The company also announced earlier this year that it is preparing to introduce 2.5TB and 3TB hard disk drives before Christmas.
