I would think there is a demand for astronomers

With global warming, alternative energy sources, and environmental issues surfacing, there should be a demand for astronomers in the future. I've read articles about no jobs available for physicists and astronomers but those were written a few years ago. Things have changed since then.

If it is a career you really want to get into, then you will find a way to get there. My suggestion is that you'll need to go for a Masters in Astronomy and if you really want to reach higher, get a PhD. Getting a Bachelors won't help much because the field demands higher educated people. The pay range isn't very high - PhD will expect to see roughly $100,000 a year in salary.
Going to a top notch astronomy college is important like University of Hawaii, Arizona or Washington too.

I hope that astronomy will

I hope that astronomy will soon be one of the in demand profession, just to think of our present world condition and environmental needs. There should be a continuous study on this particular matter and if I were to start my career as of this time, I will surely like to develop in this field. It is a unique one and there are many things to be considered, study and develop for the future in astronomy.

I am encouraging even my kids to take up and study in this field. I would even strongly recommend that the government should enhance the development of education on this field.
