One way to determine if your body weight is appropriate is to use the Body Mass Index (BMI). It is a formula used by dieticians and doctors to estimate the total body fat based on your height and weight. The higher the BMI, the more body fat you have.
You can calculate this out yourself by doing the following:
BMI = (Weight * 703) / (Height * Height)
So for example if you weigh 100 pounds and are 5' 4" (64 inches) then the calculation goes as follows:
