Can You Play GameCube Games On The Nintendo Wii?

We have some old Nintendo gamecube cartridges and was wondering if we can play those in the Wii.

The Wii is backwards compatible and can run the Nintendo GameCube games. I know because I have a library of them my kids and I play with.
