Who Is The Best Stockbroker?

Can someone recommend a good stock broker? Ameritrade? Schwab? I don't trade stocks a lot, I am just looking to invest.

If you are an active trader

Interactive Brokers is not bad. The commissions are very competitive and the trading platform is good. Its not meant for casual investors - more for people who have used trading software (not web).

Ameritrade will be even better with ThinkOrSwim

Don't know if you heard but early this month Ameritrade agreed to buy out ThinkOrSwim for $606 million. TOS has one of the best electronic trading platforms for active traders bar none. The software is very easy to use, intuitive, and from all my years of trading, has the best and most responsive customer support around.

Ameritrade is good

If you are a casual trader or investor, you can't beat Ameritrade's $9.99 on market or limit orders. I never tried Schwab but I hear they are good too.
