It may be a band frequency conflict
The band frequency of the wireless router is likely interfering with the band frequency of your wireless telephone. Both are probably on the 2.4Ghz block.
You can handle this in one of three ways:
If you decide to try the channel route, you can test this by starting at channel 1, and then calling your home telephone. If the line drops, move to the next channel on the router.
The various channel frequencies are:
Note:
a - not available in US
b - not available in Europe
As you can see, the frequency ranges are stepped up so it may be possible for you to get out of the band of your wireless phone. Try to choose one as farthest away from 2.45Ghz as possible to avoid conflict.
Hope this helps.

It worked!
That was it! I moved it to channel 11 and dialed the telephone. My Internet connection didn't drop. Wow man you saved me some money. I was almost going to get a new telephone that would have set me back a $100. You rock! Glad I found this place! Thanks!
