Wendy's Introduces the $16 Burger In Japan

December 29 2011 by Kerry Kobashi

Wendy's Japan
Fast food restaurant Wendy's is making a buzz with a $16 exotic hamburger in Japan.

The high end burger is a mouth-watering feast made with a delictable combination of goose liver and truffles. It is only available in a very exclusive shopping district in Tokyo.

This week the company relaunched its Japanese operations with plans to open 100 new restaraunts in the next five years. They are partnering with Higa Industries who once operated over 180 Domino Pizza stores before selling out last year. The joint venture will be split with Higa owning a 51% share.

In 2009, Wendy's had severed its ties with Zensho Holdings who chose to focus on it's beef bowl business. That resulted in the closing of 71 Wendy's stores.

After a string of quarterly losses, Wendy's is hoping to get back on track. It is a competitive Japanese market as McDonalds is firmly established with over 3400 stores.

Cool new specialty items available in the Japan markets will include the Avocado Wasabi burger, the Porcini Grilled Chicken sandwich and the Truffle.

Wendy's is the third largest fast food company in the United States behind Burger King and McDonald's. They own and operate over 6000 franchises in the US and internationally.

I don't know about you, but I would be more than interested if Wendy's introduced a gourmet Avocado Wasabi hamburger here in the US. They also seem to have better items on their menu. Just take a look at these pictures!
