The Return Of The McRib

Take note McSandwich fans, the on again, off again McDonald's McRib is out and it's only here until December 5th.

Just what is the McRib? Its a sandwich that is shaped to look like, well, a rib. Apparently its made out of ground pork and lord knows what other stuff. Its smothered in barbecue sauce with onions and pickles. A soft roll covers the thing and it is pretty tasty - at least when I had it last.

I remember the McRib when I was a kid some 30 years ago working at Mickey D's. It sold very well and we couldn't make enough of them fast enough. When they pulled it off the menu after a short run, I just couldn't understand why. Customers would get all cranky when we ran out, mostly because we didnt have enough pork patties on hand or the special sized buns.

Years later, McDonald's would put it on the menu and then pull it off almost in a teasing kind of way.

And now it makes a return. Hmmm. Looks like between now and December I'll have to revisit the McRib.
