The Best And Worst Commercials of 2011

And without further ado, KoW's picks for the best and worst commercials for 2011.
Best Commercials of 2011
Kia Hamsters Party Rock Anthem
Playing off the popular hit, "Party Rock" by LMFAO, KIA Motors attempts to ride the movement. Captures attention of young adults successfully.
State Farm Insurance Breakdance
We've all seen the State Farm commercials and this one brings them all together very well in a very cool way. Maybe this mashup makes it on the Super Bowl for 2012.
SunDrop Drop It Like Its Hot
When I first saw this, it was a "WTF!" kind of moment. And for that very reason because of its absurdity, it succeeded.
Axe Detailer To Clean Your Balls
Dirty balls. Big balls. Ball sacks. Old balls. Well, you get the picture.
Geico's Do You Live Under A Rock Commercial
Yes its cynical. Yes it's stupid. And somehow it sells insurance.
Dairy Queen's Rock 'N Roll Falcon
Similar to the Old Spice style of commercials, this falcon's gesture is rockin'.
VW's The Force
A funny commercial spoofing Darth Vader.
Worst Commercials of 2011
SmartCar's Big Commercial
On some SF Bay Area stations where I live, you can see this commercial run 4-5 times an hour. Repetitive use of words in a commercial segment is so annoying.
Ebay's Christmas Commercial
A whining fast talking girl gets annoying after you see it a few dozen times. First time is ok, but just like the SmartCar commercial, this one wears on you.
eSurance Online Dating
I don't know where eSurance is heading with these sarcastic Dilbert style office ads. They need a whole new ad compaign because it is getting stale..
Progressive Disco
Ugh. Flo yet again in another sterile, fictitious environment. Progressive too needs a whole new ad campaign.
Audi Phil Jackson
The scripting, logic, and brand associations used in this commercial is poor. Does this commercial make you want to go out and buy a new car? And just how does identifying with Phil Jackson make you want to jump out of your seat to buy an Audio A8? They should have just talked about the features of the car instead.
About Kerry Kobashi
Kerry is the founder of KerryOnWorld. He lives in Silicon Valley and has worked as an engineer and project manager. He owns Kobashi Computing a consulting company.
