Regis Philbin To Retire

January 20 2011 by Kow

Regis Philbin
One of the most notable hosts on morning television will be retiring after 28 long years. Regis Philbin announced live that he will be riding out into the sunset.

Philbin, known for his quick wit, warmth, and charm, has been entertaining audiences for over 50 years. He has had successful careers in both talk shows and as a game host.

His current show, "Live with Regis and Kelly" has been on air for over 10 years and running. On Tuesday morning, he broke the news:

"This will be my last year on the show. It's been 28 years. There is a time when everything must come to an end for people on camera. Especially for certain old people."

Although most of us will remember Philbin as the host of the popular game show "Who Wants To Be A MIllionaire", his popularity rose when he was paired with co-host Kathie Lee Johnson (later Gifford) in the show "Live with Regis and Kathy Lee" in the latter '80's.

It is not known what the exact date "the hardest working man in show business" will retire this year, but we would like to congratulate Regis for a long, successful career.
