Las Vegas Casinos Sees Signs Of Recovery

After a 2 year economic slump, it looks like Las Vegas is turning around. The Nevada Gaming Board said today that gambling revenues increased 2.8% for September in what looks to mark the bottom for the beaten down city.
Bloomberg news reported that Nevada casinos earned $917 million in September and was the 2nd time since 2007 that the city had two consecutive months of profit. The bulk of the profits came from sports book and baccarat games. Baccarat, a popular game today saw over $976 million in wagered bets for September.
In the South Lake Tahoe area of Nevada, business is not much better as gaming revenue fell 8%. Harrah's reported last week a 7.5% decline in gaming revenue for the region from a year ago citing lower guest visits and tourist spending.
