YouTube Started Out As A Dating Site

Did you know that popular video site YouTube started out as a dating site?
YouTube was formed by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim who were former employees of PayPal. When eBay bought the online transaction service, they left the company.
The three wanted to create their own startup venture and settled on a developing a video website similar to HotOrNot.com which was extremely popular at the time. Unfortunately, after little interest, that idea did not pan out well.
They then came up with the brilliant idea of creating a video sharing site which today is known as YouTube. In a matter of one year YouTube grew dramatically and was eventually purchased by Google for $1.65 billion dollars in Google stock.
