Announced Thursday in an email sent out to its members, Reunion.com is changing its name to Mylife.com. This will be effective on February 17, 2009. Reunion.com is one of the largest social networks.
I find it interesting that Reunion.com is trying to steer away from its past by changing its name. Do they really believe they can get away from all the word of mouth and bad reputation they have by a simple domain name change?
Any website that attempts to trick its users to giving up email addresses in their address books and then creates fake profile listings on those people's behalf should be seriously avoided. Consider the following:
- 1,660,000 Google pages for the term "Reunion.com scam"
- 463,000 Google pages for the term "Reunion.com spam"
- 1,110,000 Google pages for the term "Reunion.com complaints"
- 463,000 Google pages for the term "Reunion.com virus"
Did I mention that the Better Business Bureau gives Reunion.com a "F" rating?
I wrote about this company a month ago when they gained access to my Thunderbird email address book and started to fake email messages from people on the list.
My advice:
Avoid Mylife.com and Reunion.com like the plague.

Is Reunion.com the company that spams with fake email?
I heard of this company and how they tricked a lot of people in giving up their address book. That's so bad - maybe I'll put it on one of my segments.
